In Secondary Cycle Two, students complete the continuum of learning for Academic and Career Guidance Content. At this stage, students are preparing for the transition to life after Secondary school. In Secondary III, students continue to increase their Knowledge of Self by drafting a personal profile. They use this knowledge to select occupations that might appeal to them, and then anticipate how the choices that they have made will influence their future studies. This is time to consider what pathway (academic or vocational) will lead the student into the world of work.
By Secondary IV and V, students are ready to launch into the world after school. ACGC items in these grades provide tools for students to present themselves to schools and employers. The preparation of a Life Project allows students to explore aspirations that may go beyond the world of school and work. Students have an opportunity to check their assumptions about the occupations they have chosen to pursue, and they are encouraged to modify their thoughts and actions in preparation for the transition to life after high school.
Exceptionally in this Cycle, the content for Secondary III is prescribed. There are three content items that must be taught in Secondary III. The remaining four content items are distributed over the course of Secondary IV and V.
