In order to meet the objectives of this ACGC item students must:
Select various personal characteristics that will be useful in preparing for the transition from elementary school to secondary school.
The Learning Strategy for this ACGC is SELECT. This means that the lesson must explicitly teach students how to select information.

- Teach the vocabulary associated with the terms strengths and personal characteristics
- Explore the Create a Strengths Chain activity below
- Have students identify the challenges that they anticipate in entering Secondary 1 and identify some strengths that will help meet those challenges
- Have students select some of the strengths and personal characteristics that they identified when they created their Strengths Chain that will help them next year
- Students can demonstrate their learning by creating art, by writing an essay or poem describing how the strengths and personal characteristics they selected will help them overcome the challenges they anticipate next year.
- Students can upload their production to their student All About Me portfolio in MyBlueprint.
