In order to meet the objectives of this ACGC item students must:
Develop a description of the academic and personal strengths that contribute to his/her academic success
The Learning Strategy for this ACGC is DEVELOP. This means that the lesson must explicitly teach students how to develop information.

- Have students review their academic results at the beginning of the school year or the end of a school term and reflect on/discuss

- Does academic success in a subject look the same for all students?
- Students may enjoy taking the Personality Survey in MyBlueprint's Education Planner
- Open the Who Am I? tab in Education Planner and complete the survey
- Have students reflect on the results of the Personality Survey to determine if they agree with the personal strengths identified in the survey
- Help students understand that academic and personal strengths can be attained and improved using a variety of strategies
- What strategies contribute to improving a student's academic and personal strengths?
- What academic and personal strengths and strategies do they possess that contribute to their own academic success?
- What new academic and personal strategies might each student adopt in order to improve on their academic results?
- Have students develop SMART goals that will help them improve their academic results in the next term
- Use this worksheet to help students elaborate on their goals so that they become Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic and Timely (SMART)
- At the end of the following term, revisit each student's academic results with them and reflect on:
- How did the student make use of their academic and personal strengths in order to achieve the goals they set for themselves earlier in the year?
- How does setting SMART goals contribute to improving academic and personal strengths?
- What goals will the student set for themselves in the upcoming year?
- Regularly celebrate the fact that students have achieved the goals they set for themselves
- Have students develop a portrait of themselves that highlights their academic and personal strengths using the information that they have learned over the course of this exercise. This can be

- Take into account the students’ individual differences, e.g. their knowledge, fields of interest and learning styles
- Use effective questioning techniques to foster active construction of knowledge
- Give students regular individualized feedback
- Use formative evaluation to direct teaching
- Assign academic tasks consistent with the students' academic goals and objectives, which students find rewarding and important outside of the classroom
- Challenge students cognitively and personally to meet high expectations.

- Use interesting, meaningful materials that appropriately challenge students
